SUKKOT 5781
Chag HaSukkot. We commence this DEVAR TORAH by focusing our attention upon the instructions given to the NAVI MOSHE concerning the unfoldment of SUKKOT. It is written, “But on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you gather in the crop of the land, you shall celebrate HaShem’s festival for a seven-day period, the first day is a rest day and the eighth day is a rest day. You shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of a citron tree, the branches of date palms, twigs of a plaited tree, and brook willows, and you shall rejoice before HaShem your God, for a seven-day period. You shall celebrate it as a festival for HaShem a seven-day period in the year, an eternal decree for your generations in the seventh month shall you celebrate it. You shall dwell in booths for a seven-day period, every native in Israel shall dwell in booth. So that your generations will know that I caused the Children of Israel to dwell in booths when I took them from the land of Egypt; I am HaShem you God.” Leviticus 23:39-43. From these instructions given to the NAVI MOSHE, we are able to discern that the nature thereof is ETERNAL. Not only does this imply that the observance has no beginning or ending but in addition, it is one that is TRANSCENDENT. This EMET (truth) is demonstrated in the expansion thereof.
Concerning the expansion of this DECREE, the NAVI ZECHARIAH wrote, “It shall be that all who are left over from all the nations who had invaded Jerusalem will come up every year to worship the King HaShem, Master of Legions, and to celebrate the festival of Succot.” Zechariah 14:16. From this prophetic utterance, we are able to discern that the DECREE given to BENEI YISRAEL to observe SUKKOT is expanded to include the rest of the Sons of Adam at the fulfillment of the GOAL of CREATION. No doubt the expansion rests upon the foundation that YISRAEL (the Host Souls) have made manifest our Supernal Corporate Purpose. The Supernal Corporate Purpose is the PROMISE given to our ABBA (Father) AVRAHAM that “… all the families of the earth shall bless themselves by you.” Genesis 12:3. These blessings are effected through the EXILE experienced by the Jewish people in which we were made to dwell in temporary places.
Our dwelling in these temporary places gives rise to educating all nations with the revelation of TORAH. From this movement, we are empowered to both ingather the Jewish People who have been lost in identification as well as provide an integral education to the rest of the Sons of Adam. Effecting this Supernal Purpose is what gives rise to the Earth being filled with the knowledge of G-d and the birthing of a New Civilization.
