KORACH

Shalom, Shalom. We commence this DEVAR TORAH by focusing our ATTENTION upon the title of the PARASHAT. The title of the PARASHAT is KORACH. KORACH is descendant of Levi. The tribe of Levi was purposed by ECHAD to aid the KOHANIM (Priesthood) in the work of the MINISTRY.

The SCENARIO discloses the Desire of Korach to be one for power. In particular the power to influence thought, opinion and behavior. To fulfill the Desire for Power, Korach engaged in SELF-PROMOTION. The NAVI Isaiah was given an admonition to give to the King of Babylonia warning against SELF-PROMOTION. It is written, “How have you fallen from the heavens, O glowing star; you have been cut down to the ground, O conqueror of nations? You had said in your heart, I will ascend to the heavens; higher than the stars of God I shall raise my throne; I will sit at the Mountain of Meeting, on the northern side; I will ascend over the tops of the clouds; I will liken myself to the Most High! But to the nether-world have you been lowered, to the bottom of the pit!” (Isaiah 14:12-15) In this prophetic utterance, it is disclosed that SELF-PROMOTION is contrary to the will of ECHAD. It further reveals that the SUPERNAL JUDGMENT on SELF-PROMOTION is demotion. In other words, those who set themselves up are destined to fail.

The JUDGMENT on SELF-PROMOTION is based on the PREDETERMINATION OF THE SUPERNAL. It is written, “For neither from the sunrise nor from sunset, nor from the wilderness comes greatness. For God is the Judge, He lowers this one and raises that one.” (Psalm 75:7,8) In this passage, it is revealed that greatness, that is, power is delegated by ECHAD, yea, there is but ONE POWER, and the ONE POWER is ECHAD. Therefore ECHAD delegates the POWER to whom He wills. This discloses that SELF-PROMOTION is EGOTISTIC, yea, that is OPPOSITE of ECHAD. Thus those who set themselves up are destined to go down.
